Background

Barbro Ehnbom (born August 7, 1945, Bromma, Stockholm) is a Swedish-American businesswoman, economist, and founder of the professional women's network BBB (Barbro's Best & Brightest) and the Swedish-American Life Science Summit (SALSS). She holds an economics degree from Stockholm School of Economics (1967) and conducted doctoral studies at SSE and Columbia University. She built a career in the pharmaceutical industry (Richardson-Vick, American Home Products, Smith Kline) and on Wall Street (Delafield Childs), where she was ranked among the top three financial analysts in America in 1975.

In 1987, Ehnbom founded Swedish Secret, Inc., a skincare company marketed as ‘Class in Mass’ that featured Swedish Princess Christina and three Miss Universe winners as brand faces. The company operated until 1992. Years later, in an email to Epstein, she would compare her BBB network to Victoria's Secret: ‘I AM SURE YOU MISS VICTORIA SECRET TONIGHT.

JUST REMEMBER THAT THE ORIGINAL SECRET WAS SWEDISH. SWEDISH SECRET!!! NOW WHEN I GO THRU EVERYTHING I FIND AMONG OTHER THINGS MY SWEDISH SECRET PHOTO BEAUTIES.

YOU WOULD HAVE APPROVED!’ The parallel between her earlier cosmetics brand and the language she used to describe women in her network to Epstein is striking, particularly given Epstein's well-documented relationship with Les Wexner, the owner of Victoria's Secret. Ehnbom founded BBB in 2001 as a career network for female SSE graduates and young Swedish professionals. The network grew to approximately 200 members.

The corporate entity, BBB AB (org. number 559006-5008), was registered in Stockholm in March 2015 at Dobelnsgatan 18. Epstein was named ‘Best Male Support’ in 2002 for his financial contributions. The network also maintained 20 ‘Best Male Supporters’ and 50 ‘Female Role Models.’ The EFTA documents reveal that Ehnbom operated a structured selection process through these networks.

She sent SALSS conference attendee lists with photographs to Epstein. When Epstein received a list in August 2012, he responded: ‘who is your wife choice this year? brainy and sensual!’ Ehnbom recommended her SALSS Project Manager with a photo attached: ‘How about this year's SALSS Project Manager, brainy and sensual! Picture attached!’ She then confirmed: ‘She is the one!

Now SALSS 4 days... will get back to you next week. Kram BE.’ In December 2005, Ehnbom introduced Princess Sofia of Sweden (then Sofia Hellqvist, a 20-year-old model) to Epstein by email: ‘This is Sofia, an aspiring actress who just arrived in New York. She is the girl I told you about before I left, who I thought you might like to meet.’ Epstein, who was in the Caribbean, offered to send Sofia a plane ticket to visit him there.

Sofia declined the Caribbean invitation but met Epstein at a New York office with her friend Camilla present. In January 2008, Ehnbom sent Epstein a birthday email with a photo file named ‘Swedish girls’ showing herself with three BBB women including Sofia. The Swedish Royal Court confirmed in December 2025 that Sofia met Epstein ‘on a few occasions.’ During Epstein's 2008 sex crimes investigation, Ehnbom offered a woman described as ‘Elsa, very young’ to Epstein, explicitly highlighting youth as a characteristic.

This was reported by Swedish newspaper Dagens ETC. A 20-year-old BBB member identified as ‘Selma’ was invited to a March 2012 dinner at Epstein's townhouse with the dress code ‘bare legs.’ Ehnbom's son Marcus Forss actively participated in the pipeline. In June 2013, Forss sent a woman's email address and Skype name to his mother, who forwarded it to Epstein with the subject line ‘JEFFREY AND..JULIA!’ The mother-son team operated as a recruitment unit.

In May 2012, two BBB members attended a dinner at Epstein's Manhattan townhouse with Lord Peter Mandelson. One was described as a ‘super-smart medical and economics student.’ Lesley Groff coordinated their arrival. Ehnbom organized fundraisers for U.S.

Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO), emailing Epstein: ‘I am doing a small fund raiser for Diana deGette of Colorado.’ DeGette keynoted SALSS 2009 in Stockholm and was photographed with Ehnbom at a 2018 SALSS event. Epstein's donations to Stockholm School of Economics totaled at least 5 million SEK (approximately $500,000) through the Enhanced Education and C.O.U.Q.

Foundation into the ‘Barbro Ehnbom Fund,’ a separate entity controlled by Ehnbom. SSE issued two public statements distancing itself from Ehnbom (December 2025 and February 2026) and discontinued the FEOY (Female Economist of the Year) scholarship in 2020. Ehnbom publicly claimed she severed ties with Epstein in 2015.

This is contradicted by a wire transfer to BBB AB confirmed by Bella Klein on August 4, 2017 (bank reference FTS7170804730170), and by a late-2017 email to Epstein mentioning Princess Sofia's second son (born August 31, 2017) and proposing a NYC meeting. A U.S. lawyer named John Ray reported suspicions about Ehnbom to the U.S. Attorney's Office after observing ‘an enormous number of these beautiful young women among all these middle-aged and older men’ at a Stockholm conference.

The case was reportedly dropped because the women were over 18. On April 6, 2026, Sweden's parliamentary Justice Committee voted down a proposal for an independent review of Epstein's links to Sweden. Norway, by contrast, has established an external commission.

Ehnbom was forced to resign from the Larargalan (Sweden's Best Teacher awards) board in November 2025 after Dagens ETC's investigative reporting. She has not been charged with any crime. She appears in 1,451 DOJ documents with 548 co-occurrences with Jeffrey Epstein.
