Background

Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and leader of the Labour Party. Not directly connected to Epstein but became embroiled in the Epstein files scandal through his appointment of Peter Mandelson as UK Ambassador to the US. After DOJ-released documents revealed Mandelson had leaked sensitive UK government information to Epstein -- including early notice of a 500 billion euro EU bank bailout while serving as Business Secretary in 2009 -- Starmer fired Mandelson and publicly apologized, stating Mandelson had ‘completely misrepresented the extent of his relationship’ with Epstein.

The fallout triggered resignations of Starmer's chief of staff Morgan McSweeney and communications director Tim Allan, police raids on two Mandelson properties, and a leadership challenge against Starmer. Named on the DOJ's February 2026 list of 305 politically exposed persons.
